Wideband ACELP at 16 kb/s with multi-band excitation

چکیده
This paper describes two wideband CELP coders at 16 kb/s. Their main feature is fast searching, achieving quality comparable to G.722 at 56 and 48 kb/s. The coders have multi-band algebraic excitation in order to reduce computational complexity and bit allocation. Analysis and error minimization are done over the full band.

A 8.32 kb/s embedded wideband speech coding candidate for ITU-t EV-VBR standardization
This paper describes a 8–32 kb/s embedded speech codec submitted as a candidate for the ITU-T Embedded Variable Bit Rate (EV-VBR) standardization. The coder is built upon a 2-stage coding structure consisting of embedded ACELP coding from 8 to 16kb/s and embedded TCX coding at 24 and 32 kb/s. The coder is designed to support bandwidth scalability (narrow band and wide band signal) and bit-rate ...
متن کاملA 13.0 kbit/s wideband speech codec based on SB-ACELP
This paper describes a wideband (7 kHz) speech compression scheme operating at a bit rate of 13.0 kbit/s, i.e. 0.8 bit per sample. We apply a split-band (SB) technique, where the 0-6 kHz band is critically subsampled and coded by an ACELP approach. The high frequency signal components (6-7 kHz) are generated by an improved High-FrequencyResynthesis (HFR) at the decoder such that no additional i...
متن کاملTechniques for high-quality ACELP coding of wideband speech
We present in this paper new methods for achieving highquality wideband speech at low rates using the ACELP algorithm. Several innovations are introduced to optimize the quality and minimize the complexity of the coder. A multi-rate wideband speech encoding algorithm based on these techniques was recently selected by 3GPP as the standard for AMR-WB, and is currently one of the candidates for th...
متن کاملAn embedded adaptive multi-rate wideband speech coder
This paper presents a multi-rate wideband speech coder with bit rates from 8 to 32 kb/s. The coder uses a splitband approach, where the input signal, sampled at 16 kHz, is split into two equal frequency bands from 0-4 kHz and 4-8 kHz, each of which is decimated to an 8 kHz sampling rate. The lower band is coded using the Adaptive Multi-rate (AMR) family of high-quality narrowband speech coders,...
متن کاملMultiband Vector Quantization Based on Inner Product for Wideband Speech Coding
This paper describes a multiband vector quantization (VQ) technique based on inner product for wideband speech coding at 16 kb/s. Our approach consists of splitting the input speech into two separate bands and then applying an independent coding scheme for each band. A code excited linear prediction (CELP) coder is used in the lower band while a transform based coding strategy is applied in the...
